Etymology:
Definition:
L. sessilis: “sitting”
Attached directly by the base; not having an intervening stalk; stalkless. This is an important distinction when discussing polyps in the colon. Sessile polyps are flat to the wall of organ, where as pedunculated polyps have a stalk.
