Plegia

Etymology:

Gr. plḗssein: “to strike”, from Gr. plege: "stroke", so named because the sudden onset of symptoms due to a partial or complete blockage of the vessels in the brain were attributed to a ‘stroke of God’s hande’

Paralysis; a loss of motor function in one or more muscles (perhaps providing the imagery that one was struck to the ground). It is often used as a suffix; e.g., as in hemiplegia.
