Pes cavus
Etymology:
L. pēs: “foot” + L. cavus: “a hollow, hole”
Definition:
A multiplanar foot deformity characterized by an abnormally high medial longitudinal arch (where the amount of space between the arch of the foot and the ground creates a "hole" when viewed from the side); often seen in pathologies like Friedreich ataxia and Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.
