Etymology:
L. nāviculāris: “boat shaped”), from L. nāvicula, diminutive of nāvis: “ship”
Definition:
One of the tarsal bones found in the foot. Its name derives from the human bone's resemblance to a small boat, caused by the strongly concave proximal articular surface.
