Mesothelioma
Etymology:
Gr. mésos: “middle” + Gr. thēlḗ: “nipple” + -ōma*: “indicating process or action” *suffix added to verbs to form nouns indicating the result of a process or action; used in medical discourse to form the names of tumors or masses often due to cancerous processes
Definition:
Mesothelioma is a type of cancer that develops from the thin layer of tissue that covers many of the internal organs (known as the mesothelium). The area most commonly affected is the lining of the lungs and chest wall.
