Megaloblastic
Etymology:
Gr. megálos: “large, great or exaggerated” + Gr. blastós: “germ, sprout, bud, shoot”
Definition:
Pertaining to a megaloblast: an abnormally large red blood cell associated with pernicious anemia and with folic acid deficiency. The name megaloblast always refers to abnormally developed precursors (hence the etymology, "germ, sprout") of red blood cells.
