Macule
Etymology:
L. macula: "a spot, speck, small mark or stain"
Definition:
A macule is a change in surface color (i.e., a "spot"), without elevation or depression (so nonpalpable), well or ill-defined, variously sized, but generally considered less than 1 cm in diameter at the widest point.
