Iliacus
Etymology:
L. īlia: “groin, flank, lower abdomen”
Definition:
A flat, triangular muscle which fills the iliac fossa relatively located in the groin area. It forms the lateral portion of iliopsoas, providing flexion of the thigh and lower limb at the acetabulofemoral joint.
