Gr. histo: "tissue" + Gr. -lógos, “account, explanation, narrative”
Definition:
The study of ("explanation of") the microscopic structure, chemical composition and function of the tissue or tissue systems of plants and animals. Referred to as "microscopic anatomy" at times.
