Gr. eû: “well, good” + L. volūmen: “book, roll” or volvō: “roll, turn about”, in reference to the size of a book (indicated by how large or small the pages were when rolled together, as in a scroll), which was then extrapolated to mean the size, quantity, or capacity of something
Definition:
Having a normal amount (i.e. "good" referring to an ideal homeostatic amount) of body fluids.
