Definition:
L. conjūnctīva: “serving to connect, connective”, so named because it connects the eyelids with the ball of the eye
A clear mucous membrane that lines the inner surface of the eyelid and the exposed surface of the eyeball or sclera, thus connecting the eyelid and eyeball.
