Azotemia
Etymology:
Borrowed from French azote: "nitrogen", from Gr. a-: “without” + Gr. zōḗ: “life”. Named by French chemist and biologist Antoine Lavoisier, who saw it (nitrogen) as the part of air which cannot sustain life.
Definition:
The accumulation of nitrogen-bearing waste products (such as urea and creatinine) in the blood, which are usually excreted in the urine.
