Arthritis

Etymology:

Gr. arthrîtis: “joint-disease, gout”, from árthron: “a joint”

Definition:

Inflammation of a joint or joints causing pain and/or disability, swelling and stiffness, and due to various causes such as infection, trauma, degenerative changes or metabolic disorders.


It is worth noting that the most common form of arthritis, which is osteoarthritis, is considered non-inflammatory.
