Anthracosis

Etymology:

Gr. ánthrax: "charcoal" + Gr. -ōsis: “state, abnormal condition, or action”

Definition:

A relatively mild pneumoconiosis (lung disease caused by inhalation of particulate matter) caused by inhalation of coal/carbon. It is often asymptomatic and thus diagnosed via carbon-laden macrophages seen on histology.
