Anosognosia
Etymology:
Gr. a-: “not, without” + Gr. nósos: “disease” + Gr. gnôsis: “knowledge”
Definition:
Failure to have knowledge of a defect or deficit resulting from disability, due to brain injury (e.g. Anton-Babinski syndrome). In other words, a condition in which a person with a disability/disease is cognitively unaware of having it due to an underlying physical or psychological condition.
